Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Lonnie Campbell
Police on Friday evening arrested a transient from Big Sur suspected of neglecting a dog and farm animals, according to county Animal Services supervisor Todd Stosuy.
Stosuy said the man was parked on West Cliff Drive near Getchell Street most of the day and that passers-by concerned about the two rabbits, two ducks, a turkey and a dog called 911 a few times throughout the day. When a caller Friday evening reported that one of the rabbits appeared to be injured, police and Stosuy responded.
One rabbit had a broken leg and all of the animals were in "pretty poor condition without food and water," Stosuy said.
Santa Cruz police arrested Lonnie Campbell, 48, on suspicion of animal neglect and failure to provide vet care. Animal Control took custody of the animals, Stosuy said. References« CA State Animal Cruelty Map
